Denisa Heaven - Summertime

If the title of this film calls to mind romantic picnics in sun-washed meadows or lovers frolicking in the sand and surf, you're to be excused — those answers are perfectly fitting, but the subject of "Summertime" is more subtle than that, and even more sultry. Written, photographed, directed, and edited by a woman — Jocelyn Joplin — "Summertime" explores the complex emotions and passionate connection two lovers share one quiet summer afternoon.

The longing and anticipation can be clearly seen on Denisa Heaven's face as she waits anxiously for Lein Lewis to arrive. Their reunion is warm, but it starts off slowly. There is wine, there are exchanged glances, smiles, small talk, and routine conversation. But, after a separation, their mutual longing is clearly present. And it builds, gradually, until it cannot be contained. Desire, attraction, love and lust soon cause the temperature to rise and the passion to explode in "Summertime."
